There is a common feeling by employees that they are over worked and under appreciated. Employees are punished for bad behavior and not rewarded for good behavior or accomplishments. I would not trust any supervisor or management at this site. From my personal experience, they tell you one thing and their manager something else. Management will use you to make themselves look good. When their boss isn't happy with them, management will pass that off to you, saying you're the reason why.
Colleagues do not work well together and do not interact in an honest and direct manner. Colleagues tend to get easily offended and threatened by those that are hardworking and high performing.
Communication is bad.
Overall compensation for your work
Benefits are great. Pay raises are a joke. Bonuses are a joke too.
Office / Work Environment
The facility is nice, and improving. However, there is always a peice of equipment needed that the company won't buy, or equipment that broke down they won't fix. It's always something that makes the job harder or impossible. And management expects you to compensate regardless.
Work life balance does not exist. Your schedule can be extended or changed with short or no notice. Weekends are almost mandatory. And holidays don't exist. They offer them of course, but there is always a protocol or an emergency that requires the company to work.
One day you can have a job, the next day you could be fired. I've seen it happen to many, many people.
They value safety and employees safety. But as usual, there is some risk to the job envolved. But, it shouldn't be an issue if you follow the rules and use the right tools.
At times the work can be challenging. However, the work is not divided up fairly so one person may have a huge load while another has enough free time to sit on their phone or the computer. Management tends to micro manage and hoard some of the work. Management will expect you to do the dirty work, the grunt work, but they will not have enough confidence in you to let you write a report, for example.
Inclusive / Diverse
Management does not support personal opinions or ideas. Often, I would bring up an idea to my team and it would be instantly shot down. Colleagues would refuse to try it differently almost as if they were offended or threatened by my suggestion.
Suggestions for improvement
- Treat employees better. HR should observe all departments and people's interactions regularly. Particularly the lab area. Most unprofessional department there. The workers in the lab feel they are better than operations employees because they have degrees. This attitude needs to be stopped. There needs to be more of a team attitude there and not clicks and groups similar to that in high school. Also, there is too much goofing off. Workers stand around talking, playing on the phone, surfing the Web, buying Christmas gifts on Amazon, etc. Management needs to stop this behavior and rebuild the attitude of hard work and good work ethics.
What I like about the company
I learned good skills. However, this is the only pharmaceutical company in this area, so it doesn't help much at other companies. I liked the benefits provided.
What I dislike about the company
The people and the atmosphere made working here a nightmare. No matter how much I enjoyed the work I did, the people were awful. You cannot trust anyone there.
