Company Culture

I worked with a large diversity of people with different ethnic backgrounds and I enjoyed learning more about their unique cultures.

Support from management

The manager is great because they are willing to also work beside you and always available to help.

Teamwork

They do encourage you to have a good, high spirited attitude and a high moral, as this is the best way to get return customers and better tips.

Freedom to work independently

They will usually have the new employees always working with workers that have been there longer and have proven to be a trustworthy person, to protect them from thieft, but as you show yourself as a honest person, they will definitely put a lot of trust in you and commonly work independently.

Internal Communication

Our whole franchise chain was like a close family and those of us who were employed for many years became very close.

Gender Equality

Every employee is equal.

Attitude towards older colleagues

They are always treated with respect and the same opportunity as anyone else.

Career Development

I answered this in the previous question, and yes, you are definitely able to advance in the company.

Overall compensation for your work

Absolutely! They start at minimum wage, BUT you also earn tips, so you do bring home more than other companies that pay min wage, and they are amazing with giving you a raise.

Office / Work Environment

They had a very good set up to allow for a fast paced, safe environment.

Environmental Friendliness

Things may have changed since I have worked last, but I was dissapointed that they did not have separate trash cans for the recycling. We used a lot of plastic containers and they were all put together in the garbage.

Work-Life Balance

They are very considerate of your life schedule and offer very flexible schedules.

Company Image

It may have only been a Dunkin donuts, but they gave me the opportunity to climb the latter and attend manager school, and I was making a lot more money than many of my friends who went to college for their field. I am proud of the rank and salary I was able to achieve.

Job Security

I was employed for over 12years, and I know they would have kept me for many years to come, but I had to leave due to my own circumstances.

Handicapped Accessibility

Absolutely handicap accessible.

Workplace Safety

They are excellent in training new employees and do so through several different methods to accommodate all of the learning styles people learn best from, and safety of the employees and the customer is the number one priority.

Challenging Work

As the manager, I was responsible for almost every position in the store and often worked more than a 24 hour shift if people called out.

Inclusive / Diverse

Due to being a franchise, some ideas are limited, but we always respected the thoughts and suggestions, no matter how big or small to improve the workplace.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I think I covered this in the previous question as well... the ability to add additional menu items of your choice, unique to the requests of the cultural area you serve, and cut back on the waste, and I think they should reward their employees random bonuses when caught going above and beyond the requirements of their position. That would be a great motivation for everyone to perform at their best!

What I like about the company

One of my favorite things was learning so much about the different cultures of my colleagues, including tasting food and learning much of their language. They have a very flexible schedule and are very easy to work with. They give frequent raises, and Christmas bonuses. You earn tips, but they still give you a regular normal pay rate. They are going to reward you for your hard work and dedication to the company and allow you to grow within the company, even pay for schooling! If you do your best, it is very easy to make more money than many other fields that require college degrees and experience. The best part is that you have a lot of fun and meet so many wonderful people! (Not to mention the best tasting coffee and donuts around) :)

What I dislike about the company

I did always wish that the privately owned franchise stores could be allowed to sell additional items of their choice, or offer additional toppings or flavors that customers often asked for. It would allow workers to better satisfy frequent customer requests and make your particular store to be unique and have more of an impact on the volume of customers that would travel to you, which would increase your pay rate.I do wish they would be more environmentally friendly and cut down on the amount of plastic ending up in the landfills.

Company Culture

My experience for the few months I was employed, It was going great until our store manager was fired for doing the same things the district manager was doing. After that productivity went down and people started being quiet as they lost hours. One buy on

Support from management

LOL No.

Teamwork

My store manager was fired for asking for personal leave though the official reason was she was too close to employees having chatted with them on facebook. The same thing that the district manager herself was doing.

Freedom to work independently

No trust to be had. District manager routinely would call up having watched us on camera's, "Oh you dont look busy enough go clean the already clean lobby"

Internal Communication

Most of the time when I worked tehre Iw as "making drinks wrong" because there was not enough solid training throughout the employees who worked there. Everyone had their -own- way of doing things which was confusing.

Gender Equality

female store manager requested leave for personal reasons and was denied simply because the DM did not like her.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Hours were cut even for those on disability who are already limited.

Career Development

No promotions available, no path to promotion. It would take years before becoming full time.

Overall compensation for your work

Not a living wage. Even with tips I was barely breaking even.

Office / Work Environment

We were forced to work in a very hot kitchen with limited ventilation and drinks (water) was not allowed to be kept in a convenient location near the work station. It was in fact on teh other in of the store on a bench we used for breaks because there was

Environmental Friendliness

Trash was trash. Everything was thrown in a barrel and eventually in a dumpster.

Work-Life Balance

No. Deliberatly cut employee hours, constantly screwed up paychecks also if you started work at 7 am if you needed to call out sick you had to call by 3am. Completely unreasonable.

Company Image

Was not proud, I lied to quit earlier because it was so bad.

Job Security

We were expendable and they knew we knew it.

Handicapped Accessibility

For customers yes.

Workplace Safety

Very minimal training to ensure OSHA laws were met.

Challenging Work

The work itself was challenging in that it was a lot to remember what pieces belong to what sandwich and where to find certain items on their terrible touch screen registers. It was especially complicated during busy hours such as the morning.

Inclusive / Diverse

My store manager was awesome, once the DM took over everyone was intimidated into silence.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Fire upper level staff. Change policies. View employees as humans trying to support their families rather than disposable ants and pay them a living wage. Insert more ventilation in the kitchen so it isn't as hot and make allowances for extra water breaks

What I like about the company

It used to be fun, but that was ruined because the DM is a selfish horrible human being. I have nothing positive to say about this company. I was repeatedly told simple things like having water next to the unsafe kitchen in which an employee used her own

What I dislike about the company

Unreasonable expectations in regarding sick day requests.Unreasonable work conditions with temperatures being well over 80 degrees in the kitchen in WINTER, summer is likely over 100 degrees with no access to water.Bare minimum wage with the expectation p

Company Culture

Okay. Not terrible, but not great. Some of them are great workers, most are great people. Too much drama in the workplace, though. Constant arguing.

Support from management

Okay. Not terrible, but not great. Some of them are great workers, most are great people. Too much drama in the workplace, though. Constant arguing.

Teamwork

Exactly how we work.

Freedom to work independently

3 stars because we must work together to get the job done, but we are expected to work independently together.

Internal Communication

We sometimes hear about these examples from our manager, but anyone higher than general manager is uncommunicative and hardly listens to requests.

Office / Work Environment

The building itself is old and the pipes clog constantly, AC is always broken, needs to be replaced. But that will never happen. Anything else absolutely required for work is given.

Environmental Friendliness

We only recycle cardboard boxes. Anything else is trashed.

Work-Life Balance

Does not allow full-time, can request any days off.

Company Image

It's not that great.

Handicapped Accessibility

Customers, yes. Employees, no.

Workplace Safety

More med-kits than you can count.

Challenging Work

Extremely simple. Take/make orders, accommodate customer requests, work with teammates, build drinks and food.

Inclusive / Diverse

Always hiring different people of all races, ages, genders, and orientations.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Some managers require paying for food, but it should be a company-wide policy to allow free food for workers. Should put employee concerns as one of the top priorities, including discomfort in the workplace due to working pipes, AC, etc, and should invest money into keeping employees happy to be working there. Should be more strict on happy and healthy environments rather than scolding you for messing up on making something or upsetting a customer on accident (customers in this area are senile and drug addicts.)

What I like about the company

My managers throughout the year and a half i've worked here have been extremely helpful and caring. They listen intently to your issues and are always quick to resolve any problems encountered. Always open to raises, will talk with you about anything and everything. Great managers and friends alike. Free meals and (making) drinks are a must for me, especially in food workplaces, and DD has that. You are able to re-locate as long as it is within the owner's district. You can switch tasks seamlessly, everyone works in tandem like clockwork. You do not have breaks unless you are under 18, but you may ask your manager to take a few minutes to eat or smoke a cigarette outside.

What I dislike about the company

Does not care about your issues, will not fix problems within the building or replace things unless you pester them, and then they send out mechanics who sometimes do not fix the issue. The pay is poor, but requires a lot of labor from you. Anyone higher than store managers who may visit your store will stay there all day and nag at you to do a million things at once, which is humanly impossible. Not allowed actual (30 minute) breaks unless you are under 18, as is required by law, but it is also required by law that if you work 8 hours or more in a day that you get at least a 15 minute break. You won't receive that unless you make it a point, and even then it's a hard maybe. Co-workers seem not to care about anything at all, except for about 2 of them. I understand why they don't, considering the pay-to-labor ratio is absolutely garbage. Customers in the area are terrible (although that is not company-related).
