Company Culture is a big topic with DMS, however it is not something the company follows. They say one thing and do another.
Support from management
Management does not involve employees or care what the employees have to input.
Individual teams work well together. The entire company has a great deal of politics and finger pointing.
DMS has weekly meetings where the company information is shared. It again however is embellished upon and not 100% true.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Most of the current staff are young. They do not hire older people.
The training that is received is job or project specific. Mostly to satisfy the safety requirements and SSQA audits. They did have a leadership training but then laid off most of the people that were in the training.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is fair and you need to negotiate high when you start because you will not see a raise for a very long time. There is a high turn over.
Office / Work Environment
The environment in some areas are better than others. Temperature is not well controlled in most areas.
The recycling program has grown but is still lacking. Management complains that it costs money to recycle.
When a project has been mismanaged the management will quilt employees into working weekends, Holiday, even days you have scheduled off to make up for the lack of planning ahead.
DMS does have a pride about them.
DMS has laid off and hired so often the average employee has been here less than 2 years.
There are currently no disabled people working here. As for access it is the minimum requirements at best.
DMS is very safety conscience. The parent company DSI has a very stringent safety program. However if you are injured you will be laid off the next lay off.
The work is challenging. Management has taken on project they have no experience in doing and should not have taken. The rely on the employees to somehow get the work done without proper training.
Inclusive / Diverse
Many employees are trained in many areas. Some are moved into areas they have no interest in and are expected to be grateful they have a job.
Suggestions for improvement
- Upper management does not have any respect for each other or the employees. Their only my focus is making money. And you are only as good as your last mistake.
What I like about the company
The offer a 9/80 schedule.
What I dislike about the company
No job security. Always afraid you will be laid off. Upper management only care about "dollar bills".
