Certain people can get away with anything, not a lot of trust in upper management
Support from management
Little to no support from leadership
Communication is horrible from the management down. When the Pony Express had to ride through Native American dominated territory, the communication was way better than this company can do now with modern technology
Attitude towards older colleagues
There are a lot of retired police/fire/military who are hired, but too many are being turned away. No one can figure out the hiring standards. The management hires people who work at Autozone as a clerk and fails to even interview certain individuals who are almost over- qualified for the job.
Overall compensation for your work
Supervisor salary is horrendous. Supervisor pay is only 8% above the workers, when the contract cleaners, who don't even speak English, have supervisors making about 22% more than the workers. The supervisor rate was 13% when this company arrived, and spent the last 4+ years taking more and more money away
Office / Work Environment
The building is nice overall but being a government contract we really take a beating. We always get second rate chairs, the computers don't work half the time and more than 50% of the time there is no toner in the printer. Very poor material management.
Vacation is not handled properly. The company wants vacation submitted 30 days ahead but they only do the schedule 4 or 5 days ahead of time. Also, there is a policy that you receive priority if you submit your vacation request between Jan 1-15, yet if you put in for Christmas, they wait until December 20th to let you know whether or not you can have it off, and it's more often a no.
You'd be hard pressed to find ANYONE working at my site that would say anything at all positive about the company.
Suggestions for improvement
- Pay your supervisors a fair wage. Hire people who can multitask and who know how to process paperwork in an expedient manner. Stop removing money for the workers who have had it for years. You are a contractor who is here for a short amount of time, the men and women who make you look good should not suffer so you can squeeze every penny out of your time on contract.
What I like about the company
I'm sorry but I can't think of anything at all
What I dislike about the company
Lack of appreciation for the workers, it seems they are always looking at ways to cut into your earnings, horrible communication, always losing paperwork, overall very poorly managed, and it shows with the low moral amongst the workers
