Suggestions for improvement
- Hiring practices need to be evaluated. While Civil Service dictates a lot of positions on campus, the same mentality of men are coming in versus the better candidates that might be women. Having company picnics instead of giving raises to those that are deserving is also a slap in the face to those that do all the support work but see none of the glory. The separation between academic areas and non academic are great also but need improvement. We are supposed to be "All In" together but there is a disconnect between the 2 areas.
What I like about the company
My current office seems to really care about each other and students. We work well together for the most part, but as with any "family" we have ours tiffs. Getting to see students excited about coming to school and sometimes being the first in their family is always a highlight.
What I dislike about the company
The higher positions (AVP, VP, Pres) are all male. Women only get to a certain point in hierarchy and then they are not promoted further. There seems to be a kiss butt/good ole boy mentality. There has not been raises for the support staff in 5+ years but other departments, especially those that already make large salaries are getting raises.
