- ECE, llc.24.Nov 2015
management is quick to pass blame on to employees, but will gladly take responsibility of any praise from clients
Support from management
management here tends to be right no matter what, and employees take blame for all mistakes
honesty can be brutal, but it is not necessary for management to be rude about it
Freedom to work independently
management will not ask employees if they can complete a task, they simply give it and expect the deadline to be met regardless of employee's other tasks
absolutely no staff meetings where this information is given. all profits are kept secret among management only
not many women worked here when I did, but those who did were treated the same as the rest.
Attitude towards older colleagues
senior employees were never hired when I worked there. It was always juniors fresh out of school or just starting school. I was there for 9 years and was treated poorly compared to certain others who became "friends" with the boss.
training was denied on just about every front. When I was in school, support with flexible hours was denied. I wasn't invited to any lunch and learns or product showings. Compensation for education was denied.
Overall compensation for your work
Wages were much lower than the local average for someone of the same experience and skill in other companies. Benefits are offered to employees, but not to their families. Pay always came right on time, and there was always money in the bank when the check was cashed.
Office / Work Environment
if noise is too much, management will comply with employee request to reduce it. equipment is easily up to date and software is suitable for the job. heating and AC is very agreeable.
the company uses solar technology to reduce power usage.
management will not deny usage of vacation hours due to illness or family emergencies. they don't require working past agreed upon hours very often. they work well with employee needs for time off.
None of the designers/draftsmen there were satisfied. All complained about unfair wages and unfair accusations from management.
I always felt my job was stable, despite being threatened with termination on occasion.
no ramps up any of the steps into the building.
employee can always take pride in what they do, no matter the praise that may or may not come.
Inclusive / Diverse
employee opinions are rarely considered, but employee can voice them nevertheless.
Suggestions for improvement
- Do not play favorites. Pay what an employee is worth. Consider the cost of living as reason to allow pay increases. Work more with employee's family life and education.
What I like about the company
The employers will try to work with family issues, and will usually allow time off if needed for family. ECE does give bonuses, but they are usually only about half a percent of your yearly income.
What I dislike about the company
The employers will always place blame for any mistake made on you as the draftsman/designer, and will never compliment when a job is well done. The employer pays way under the average salary of similarly employed in the area.
