Managers rarely commend good work rather, they focus on anything they feel should improve. Working hard and going the extra mile are not apriciated.
Support from management
Leadership is lacking. They micro manage every aspect of your job. When asked for creative ideas they reject them and when you provide options to increase revenue they are not open.
The individuals working there are great and try to work together when allowed to.
Freedom to work independently
Employees are told what to do even if it is not something they have experience in. Some assignments are given when you have no experience in that area while an assignment is available in an area you are strong in.
The CEO does communicate the direction of the company, unfortunately, everyone between he and the employees do not.
It appears to me that women are treated equally to the men.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The majority of long serving employees are young since the company is still a startup. They do hire older staff.
Job advancement is not outlined well. They do not offer training and do not allow you to attend free training provided by vendors.
Overall compensation for your work
The pat is great for the positions. This is one area they have right.
Office / Work Environment
Working conditions are great except for the lack of privacy. The cubes are all low walled desks in a semi circle with you back to your team.
Corporate policy requires everyone work in the office even if the job can be done remotely. Some employees have to drive as much as an hour and a half in traffic. If they implemented 1 or 2 days to work from home each day it could greatly decrease their environmental impact.
They do work with you when it comes to providing time off for vacations or family emergencies. They do expect you to work a minimum of 9 hours every day even when you work extra hours and are sticklers for arrival time.
All employees seem to have the same opinion of the company. Lunch is usually filled with conversations of what management did over the last 24 hours and how they made life more difficult. The impression we get from customers feels to be the same image that the employees have.
Positions are not stable, especially for the sales department. I was not part of sales but wondered every day when they would decide to let me go and it was a common comment to hear employees say it was nice working with you when called into a managers office.
As far as I can see, they made arrangements for any disability that an employee had.
They do provide a safe working environment.
If you are focused on voice, your hard work is apriciated and it is easy to feel accomplished, however, if you are not, your efforts are not apriciated and any sense of accomplishment is short lived.
Inclusive / Diverse
Ideas are not accepted unless they come from the original employees.
Suggestions for improvement
- Intimidation is no way to run a company. The CEO is not intimidating, however, the management below him is. They need to learn to lead and not manage, inspire and not dictate. If the company had true leadership, it would have been a great place to work and I would still be there.
What I like about the company
They have a generous compensation plan and benefits.
What I dislike about the company
Idividuality is not appreciated and creative thinking is not encouraged. New ways of doing things are not accepted.
