Suggestions for improvement
- I would be up front with prospective employees prior to them joining the company about the job expectations. The owner asked her employees to basically help her with things that were beyond the scope of the job (e.g. give her tips for her TED talks and force them to provide feedback on things they know nothing about that would only serve to further her presence in the field). The employee should let her employees know what they are doing wrong or provide feedback prior to terminating them, as an employee cannot change his or her work if he or she is not told anything is being done incorrectly. It is poor management.
What I like about the company
The office was decorated nicely.
What I dislike about the company
The owner misrepresented the job position during my interview process, leading me to believe it would a job where I could use my education background. Instead, it was a sales position, where I was expected to come up with ideas to garner new business, which is not my area of expertise and is in complete opposition with what I was told I was hired to do (which was to use my educational background to help match tutors with clients).
