Suggestions for improvement

  • I would give more training to floor associates to deal with a wider variety of issues. Most escalations must go to leadership, and they are in very limited quantity, meaning a queue can easily back up.

What I like about the company

Everyone is kind, and leadership is always ensuring you perform at your best. The clientele is a very educated and well-regarded demographic.

What I dislike about the company

The office can be a little cramped, and being in such proximity to the warehouse division means that sound pollution can be a bit of an issue. Calls come in every 15 to 20 minutes, so there is a fair amount of downtime. Leadership staff is highly competent but very limited in quantity, so more training for floor employees on escalated issues would be appreciated.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The company takes over 100 days to pay for test questions written for them. They double the amount of work required for the project after it is assigned (by requiring rationales for incorrect multiple choice answers, as well as for the correct answer), but do not increase the compensation rate for the questions. They don't pay for 10%-20% of the test questions written for them, and don't give a reason unless one requests it three times. Then, when the reason involves a demonstrably false pretext, they ignore emails asking that the decision not to pay for the test question be reconsidered.

What I like about the company

They give challenging work assignments.

Company Culture

It sounds good on paper. The reality is that they don't value employees or professional development.

Support from management

Only micromanagement and threatening letters.

Teamwork

Actually had people tell me it's "not their job" to help me when that is specifically in their job description. This kind of unprofessional behavior is way too common.

Freedom to work independently

Constant surveillance and micromanagement

Internal Communication

Nightmare to contact HR or anyone in management. Phone lines loaded with bureaucracy.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Ungrandfathered pay cut. You can work here for 30 years and they'll chop your head off the minute they get a chance.

Career Development

None offered. If it weren't for the flexibility and necessity, I would have left long ago for something more rewarding.

Overall compensation for your work

Staggeringly low compensation for those with bachelor's, master's, and PhD levels of education. Minimum wage or lower in many states.

Office / Work Environment

You can work at home. Campus is nice.

Work-Life Balance

You have some freedom to pick your schedule, but you're considered an employee. Regular work cancellations are unpaid.

Company Image

Students, educational professionals, AND current/former employees hate this place. This isn't expressed vocally except on anonymous sites like this and glassdoor.

Job Security

Very serious about "employment at will", which gives your managers the attitude of "employment at our mercy". Every day you run the risk of getting fired. Kiss up properly and you'll be okay, even if your performance is horrible.

Challenging Work

It's only challenging given that it's minimum wage pay. If you consider that you're fighting daily against demotivation, it's very challenging.

Inclusive / Diverse

Some public lawsuits against this company regarding racism.

Suggestions for improvement

  • CEO and all upper management should probably resign and repent.

What I like about the company

Long ago, I thought I was helping students and furthering education. In the last two or three years, most of the qualified people left for greener pastures. There's nothing to like anymore.

What I dislike about the company

Ungrandfathered +25% pay cut announced in 2018 to all TOEFL and GRE raters. As a result, quality of assessments will decline.
