Suggestions for improvement
- This county department needs to work on communication, integrity, honesty, building trust, and being up front with new employees. As an example, I was treated with immense disrespect and felt "trashed" on the day I was let go with no warning whatsoever. I was called into a meeting that was to be my six month review. I was prepared to be reviewed and to be honest about the things that were working for me and the things that were not. What I was told almost immediately after sitting down in that meeting was that my job was being eliminated as it was not progressing the way they had hoped. I was then told to get my personal things and leave immediately. I was given no warning and no opportunity to get specifics. I felt totally betrayed.
What I like about the company
They were initially welcoming and supportive.
What I dislike about the company
From my first week, I had co-workers stating that they had been told that I would be taking on a particular task or job that they had been doing. This was on top of all my other duties as the only receptionist / administrative assistant / office manager and accounts payable clerk supporting an office of 20 plus people. Duties continued to be added on almost a weekly basis. I think my downfall was pushing back on some of these things with my superviser. A couple of things I pushed back on was party planning and birthday planning. This was not what I was hired for and not what the county was paying me for. I was a cooperative employee, but did not agree to everything that was thrust upon me. I truly believe this was held against me.
