A decent place to work while your in between jobs.
I would have to say dissention is very high to say the least
Support from management
Unless you have been there for a number of years supervision is minimal to say the least not to mention being told/instructed by someone who doesnt speak english very well themselves.
For the most part everyone does the bare minimal just enough to get by.
Freedom to work independently
No the work load or assignments are given to the one,s that do put out but nothing is said to those who are not pulling their weight.
Quartely meetings to inform employees on company status but through rumors from the front office everyone usually know before hand.
Only those & I mean the only 01 there thats in middle management, she lead through fear of your job, your bathroom breaks were restricted & or timed,
Attitude towards older colleagues
No they are not to say the least if I could remove my 01 star rating I would.I personally witnessed older employees being pushed beyond their physical & interlectually means but only to be called back to work after retirement & sometimes medical leave to assist or train employees that are not equipped to replace them due to the lack of not being trained or cross trained beforehand. This happened on numerous occassions with 02 people having to come back & assist up to a year.
No,because those that were in charge I felt were threatned ,it was neither suggested nor encouraged for enhancement or advancement!!!!
Overall compensation for your work
Satisfactory but like every other place I,ve worked the insurance packages change from year to year.
Office / Work Environment
Very noisey,a lot of the equipement in the Fabrication Dept, are being used without its safety guard/devices installed, its not about if but when & to what extent someone will get hurt.
The one thing I did enjoy the most was the work schedule.
Within the last couple of years everyone seems lost to say the least. No new products, maintenance & preventive maintenance not there at all only bandaid type mentality,no one is cross trained to take over or relieve someone either on vacation, medical leave,& even retirement. The new Vice Pres./General Mangr. hasn,t implemented no new changes for growth or expansion, its as if he is either apprehensive or not experienced to make decisions other than having employee layoffs to which some people are called back to work a month or two later & then let go again.I don,t know if that is poor management, the lack there of or just plain & simple being out of touch.
No, as I stated before there are no measures taken in the event of someone,s absence for what ever the reason(s)there is no cross training before hand not even to say the least on the job training considering your average age of your workforce is above 55+ years of age.I witnessed on numerous occasions retires being called back some for even up to almost a year after being gone for more than a couple of years away from the job,no new products, sales dept non existence.
NO & as the old adage goes its not if but when someone,s gonna get hurt due to safety guards not working or being inspected by maintenance as it did happened on numerous occassions.First aid always out of medical supplies I mean no 01 bandage!!!
I always felt good about the work I completed but was I recognized for it no,but what did bother me was I did what I was instructed everywhere I was placed usually because of someone not doing their part.
Inclusive / Diverse
Suggestions for improvement
- Training I can,t say it enough,no one is equiped to take over due to someone,s absence, maintenance, sales dept, scheduling,& when someone that is in charge make sure there is not a language barrier if so have someone that can don,t use as the individual can,t comprehend.
What I like about the company
The work week,it consisted of 04 ten hour work days Monday-Thursday, Fridays where for overtime really loved that.
What I dislike about the company
Lack of appreciation for a job well done not that I needed a pat on the back but when you take upon youself to do a task someone refused or wasnt capable of doing in a timely fashion you would like some form of appreciation especially when you were out of your area of expertise/dept. helping out.
