Company Culture

They micromanage a bit and can be negative with people. Its not the most positive environment to be honest. Not a lot of lifting people up.

Support from management

Not really much benefit of the doubt from management. They don't really trust people to do their jobs, and check up on people behind their backs etc. I'd see them go through 3 different girls for one position in a 6 month period of time. Sometimes the girls would be pretty good. But I think they run people off with their management style. They are really suspicious of new employees and always think its the new employee's bad work ethic. But sometimes its them. There is not a lot of positive reinforcement- or incentive to do a good job for them. People get fed up and leave. If you want this job to be your life- this is a great place to work. But if not, I'd look around.

Teamwork

A lot of the girls that work there are pretty nice. And they do try to encourage working together.

Freedom to work independently

It seems that way at the beginning... but then you find out they are tracking you all the time with your cell phone. A lot of companies do this now- and I have had sales jobs before. But I have never experienced anything like this. They will call you in the middle of the day to find out why you are on a certain freeway- even if you are going from one place to the next in your own territory. They send girls into each other's accounts to check up on each other. They have a lack of trust in people to do their jobs. They say it's because they have been burned in the past. I am not sure about that. I personally thought it ran a lot of good people off.

Internal Communication

They have admin assistants who double check everything you do- and they won't let you do things yourself. You have to go through admin. which creates extra work for everybody. Not the most efficient.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Not great. Not much room for promotion. And not much more trust for people- even the ones that have been there awhile. When I left- I think everyone was either new, or had been there less than 2 years because of the turnover.

Career Development

There is not an upward trajectory- or an opportunity to make a lot of money if that is what you want. I think that is another reason people aren't there that long. There is no place to go.

Office / Work Environment

It depends who is working there at the time. Some girls are really nice- but don't stay. Some can be a little catty. Management can be catty. And you are in a position to depend on your admin assistant a lot. So if you have a good one, its easy. If not, its tough. So it depends who is there. Admin was having high rates of turnover too, when I was there. They can get pretty overloaded.

Environmental Friendliness

Working with the plumbers was fun. The accounts are great. So you will like that part. The company- it depends. Different people have different experiences.

Work-Life Balance

They expect a lot more than you are initially told in interviews. After you start, you find out you are expected to do hours of charity work in their name (unpaid, and on your own time), go to dinners at least once month that can be an hour or more away. There is also weekend work and very early mornings. The early mornings I was aware of. The rest was a bit of a surprise.

I do think they try to be a reputable company in the water damage industry.

Lots of turnover!

Challenging Work

It is challenging in the sense that there is a lot of busy work- that gets redundant. You will have to submit an address change 3 times to different departments- and it still may not get done. So that creates a challenge. You will have to fill out lots of forms- and it is not efficient. But... mentally challenging? Not really. Getting the business can be challenging because the marketplace has become more competitive. So that is a challenge.

Inclusive / Diverse

It is an all female marketing team. But it is diverse within that.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Positive reinforcement from management. Financial incentives to produce. Reduce redundant, repetitive, excess busy work. It burdens people and you want to free them up to do their jobs. Trust people a little more.

What I like about the company

I liked the accounts, and being out and about, creating relationships. You are not stuck in an office all day, which is nice.
