Support from management
There are managers who I can name a few that are not fit for their job. Head of IT will promote someone who has zero knowledge in IT operations and not have any clue what's he/she is doing to run a service department.
Under poor leadership from management, it became "Everyone is their own person". There's hardly any communication within the team and it's constantly shrink sizing.
Freedom to work independently
Always being micro-managed and force to take on work from other team. Manager has no back bone to push back even though the team is completely short handed and requires additional resources.
There's rarely any communication. Facilities do not inform employees about office changes and within the IT department, no one knows what's going on.
There are no road maps and development path for existing employees. People will get promoted based on favoritism.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is quite well and bonuses are generous.
Management will push to work during personal time and not grant comp time. There are times when it's not an option.
There is no job security especially for contractors within the IT department.
Suggestions for improvement
- Restructure the IT department and hire managers with actual skills and knowledge in IT to run operations.
What I dislike about the company
Favoritism comes first. Hard working employees are overlook and is hardly ever notice work were completed by them.
