Support from management
The mortgage department used to have a manager that cared about his employees and whether they were stressed out, over-worked, etc. But then the new director seemed threatened by his skills and let him go. The focus went from one of teamwork and helping others to how much can we crank out no matter the quality, no matter the customer service levels, no matter the cost to the employees well-being.
Suggestions for improvement
- Possibly bringing in a third party consultant to review the job descriptions and action plans to encourage fairness and effective leadership.
What I like about the company
They are very invested in the communities they are in, participating in food/clothing drives, building habitat homes and they support employees volunteering.
What I dislike about the company
It is very difficult to discuss problems with management, as it feels as though HR is management focused and uninterested in giving tangible suggestions. Instead, encouraging people to discuss the issues centered around personality traits instead. Which when the question is What can I do to receive a promotion, figuring out my co-workers personalities doesn't seem to be the right direction.
