Suggestions for improvement
- Sell EPG to an environmental firm that respects their employees and the environment.
I like about the employer
EPG hires great people, but they have an extremely high turnover rate, both from resignations and terminations.
I dislike about the employer
Terrible time off policy. Time off must be used in no less than 8-hour increments (no half days) AND comes out of employees vacation time = NO SICK DAYS.
Archaeologists and biologists are expected to work a 10-on - 4-off schedule...perpetually. Not conducive to extended fieldwork or having a life outside of work.
Company is shrinking. EPG is working with a skeleton crew and is primed to be bought out.
Incompetent middle-management. Several of these positions are held by under-qualified personnel, writing sections for which they have no education or experience. Many are faking it until they make it... or get fired.
Work Expectations. EPG expects salaried employees to work a minimum of 45 - 50 hours per week (60 - 70 hours per week for field archaeologists), NO overtime. NO banking of hours, NO bonuses.
A very demanding, firm, offering nothing in return.
Pay below industry standards (even more so when you divide annual salary by the actual number of hours worked). Raises are insignificant and infrequent.
Company caters to their industrial clients. They value repeat customers above all else.
Specialists in loopholing projects.
Extremely demanding and stressful. Employees "donate"copious weekend hours and get sent out of town with little or no warning.
