Company Culture

People at ERA are really great. Not a lot of attitude. Very family oriented.

Support from management

I had a great manager, can't say enough wonderful things about her. Unfortunately, she doesn't get to make the big decisions. But she was very supportive of me.

Teamwork

As far as I could see. Everyone helps each other out. There is no blame game or finger pointing...everyone just pitches in and helps.

Freedom to work independently

Once you have the basics down, you are free to work on your own. Always ask questions, there is always someone to help.

Internal Communication

For the job itself, communication is good. If you are a temp, be prepared not to be included all the time

Gender Equality

This was good actually.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Some were very very respectful, and others... well some jokes could be made at their expense.

Career Development

It appears that once you get hired in a role, that is pretty much your role. but there are a few who have moved up in the ranks.

Compensation was good, considering I was a contract employee

Office / Work Environment

It's an office... same ole same ole. Florescent lighting, cubicles... no view of the outside from my desk.

Environmental Friendliness

Everyone was just really kind, and helpful

Work-Life Balance

For me this was bad. My commute was a little over an hour each way. And because I was new, I had to work the later shift which was 9-6. Was gone from home 11 to 12 hours a day.

Company Image

From what I can see, This company has a Stellar reputation. If they mess up a product, they take full responsibility and send out new samples for customers at no charge.

Job Security

This is bad. If you get hired through their Staffing service.... then be prepared to never be a permanent employee. Those are the marching orders from their Parent company. If you are hired as a temp, you will always be a Temp. No vacation time, No sick time, and No pay for extra days the building is closed in observance of Holidays.

Handicapped Accessibility

Very good access. two ramps on the front of the building, ground level doors on the back.

Workplace Safety

Safety is a big deal to them. This is a good safe environment to work in.

Challenging Work

One of the things I really enjoyed about this job was how challenging the work was. After you get past the initial training, you are never bored. There is so much to learn, and it's an industry that is always trying to improve itself.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I would suggest to their Parent company (Waters corp) That if you want your temps to stick with you, then give them the opportunity to become ERA/Waters Permanent employees after 5 months. Why put someone through all of that training just to leave them with... "you are a temp for the duration of your career with us". It shows no trust, no investment, and no loyalty. There is nothing that keeps them from going to your competition and spilling all your secrets.

What I like about the company

I really loved my boss. She was everything a boss should be. She cares about the employees as much as the bottom line. If she had her way, I would have been hired on permanently, and I would still be there.

What I dislike about the company

What I stated earlier. The Parent company not investing in the people /Temps they hire. You are making such a huge mistake by thinking you are saving a buck by not allowing them to become a part of the ERA/Waters family.

Some of the managers are very effective others are not

Teamwork

The employees worked well together in my department. In general people are willing to flex to fill need.

Internal Communication

Some things were communicated very well at monthly meetings. Other things were sprung on us by top management. It would have been better to keep everyone in the loop, but they didn't trust us to keep company secrets from the competition. They were wrong!

Suggestions for improvement

  • Make better use of a cross functional team to make the company better. The employees are good and know their customers.

What I like about the company

My co-workers were great. We worked very well as a team. The parent company is huge so the benefits are above average.

What I dislike about the company

Some of the support departments didn't do a very good job meeting internal customer needs, so there was a lot of manual fixes to things. I think they could have done a much better job listening to what would really help instead of deciding for us.
