Suggestions for improvement

  • I think the Human Resouces group needs strengthening. Also, more internal training and development opportunities for mid level management are needed.

What I like about the company

I have had the ability to travel all over the world with the Company. The people are great. We have great benefits. I am proud of the brands that the Company owns.

What I dislike about the company

It is a great Company, but I wish we did not test on animals. The Company has greatly improved the opportunities for work life balance with flex time, summer Fridays, etc. in a world where everyone has a cell phone and an iPad, having work life balance is crucial.

Attitude towards older colleagues

I looked around me and on the entire floor I was the oldest person there. Probably because of low wages and high turn over.

Challenging Work

People are required to stay in their lane. Even of you have bandwidth, my manager did not want team members to cross over and help other coworkers.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Create a Global IT department so IT people can work independently of the respective departments they support and follow best practices. The way it is now, IT people are just "yes" people for fear of getting fired if they don't comply to all the asks of the business.

What I dislike about the company

I have heard that most of the other departments at Estee are great and generally good to work in. HR is bad with huge turn over. In fact, on my second day there, an employee pulled me aside and said, "Don't trust anyone here. There is a lot if backstabbing."

Company Culture

During my time at Estee I had the pleasure of working with some really knowledgeable people in various departments who were team players and viewed the success of the project that I worked on as a team effort.

Support from management

My manager was not very helpful, however I was able to receive support from other managers in the department which led to my success in the department during my tenure.

Freedom to work independently

Unfortunately, my manager was a micro-manager and not open to hear the ideas from others in her department. This is in no way a reflection of the entire department that I worked for as they wanted their employees to be able to work independently.

Internal Communication

For the most part, the departments that I worked with communicated effectively and would collaborate with me on issues to find resolutions.

What I like about the company

I liked that this was a company that was always looking for new ways to reach out to their customers.

What I dislike about the company

Speaking for my department only, I would have liked to see that upper management champion the passions of their direct reports and guide them to achieving their career goals.
