A lot of talking the talk, but not walking the walk. Favoritism is rampant, communication between upper management and floor staff is terrible. Work/life balance is not what they advertise.
Teamwork amongst lower level staff and management can be pretty good. Beyond that, there is actually more effort put into undermining others than supporting them.
Freedom to work independently
On the contrary, employees are often micro-managed
Communication between team members is good, for the most part. Communication from the team to management and vice versa is terrible. The local HR doesn’t communicate with regional or national HR, they just sweep issues under the rug. Personnel problems are never properly dealt with. Also, there is little to no positive feedback. But every week, they put lower performing employees on blast with a division-wide email, detailing sales metrics. Any infraction is harped on for weeks, while successes are rarely celebrated or rewarded.
In theory, and in their “mission statement” the job should have a great work life balance. In reality, they have a hard time holding on to quality employees because of the low pay and poor treatment. This leads to an almost constant state of understaffing, and employees are simply expected to work the OT to cover, no complaints.
Suggestions for improvement
- Management needs to be almost entirely overhauled, new HR put in place
What I like about the company
Useful work experience, great networking opportunities, fun industry
What I dislike about the company
Upper management is more concerned with hitting numbers to gain bonuses (for themselves) than they are with customer service, guest experience, or employee morale.
