Support from management
A lot is required of you, more responsibility is added due to lack of other positions being filled and no compensation is offered. You are told everyone else is doing 5 things at once, deal with it. I was required to run my department and train my supervisor.
This depends on the person. There are some good employees here that you can work well with and others that like to gossip.
Freedom to work independently
Absolutely not. You're told do more everyone else is. They will combine other vacant departments in to your job to get the work done and all you can do is grin and bear it or find another job.
The feedback given is primarily negative feedback when you aren't doing something right. I don't expect a pat on the back for doing my job but there should be a happy medium.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Certain management here has their favorite's that can't do a thing wrong.
No room.for advancement here. Which is why they have a high turnover rate.
Overall compensation for your work
Hard to get a raise worth staying for. I was there 2 years and got 13 cents my first year and 50 cents my second year and I ran my department so I know it wasn't my performance yet they base it on performance. The company just doesn't give enough credit. Bi weekly pay. $11-$11.50 to start.
Yes there is. I missed 4 days in one year. Sick 3, car problems the other day. My supervisor even saw my car broke down in the company parking lot and have me a final write up knowing the exact reason I called off and that my attendance was acceptable and I run the department. He had a vendetta against me and I left because of that. Who wants to work for a company with very little leniency and a supervisor that is threatening employees jobs.
Employees are very unhappy here. The Gm addressed in a meeting with the entire staff about loosing business. A lot of concern with employees here is the stability of business. It's a unstable company that I do not recommend to anyone. Fear of layoff or company shutting the doors and the management are what drives out good employees. Unfair treatment and not giving credit where its due are other factor .
I did not feel my job as stable. Was given a final write up for just 4 calls off. Have seen a total of 15 people resign in 2015 and 5 people laid off. Stability is not there and so many are looking for other opportunities because of this.
Suggestions for improvement
- Headquarters should evaluate the management and learn the root cause of so many unhappy employees before they loose more valuable employees. Management threatening someone's job would be a good start and also place the tight qualified people into a position rather than give it to the GM's "favorites".
What I like about the company
The job was there when needed .
What I dislike about the company
The managemen . Driving out good employees who have value to the company yet the company doesn't seem to care.
