Job Security

Job security follows the oil price cycle, when it is good you are unlikely to get layer off, in times of low oil prices the chances are much higher.

Workplace Safety

The best safety culture in the oil and gas industry as of the time of this writing.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Middle Management needs to respond and follow the direction and principles of Senior Management.

What I like about the company

ExxonMobil is a good employer. It has the benefit of a very large staff so there is a niche for all types of roles and people.

What I dislike about the company

The downside to a very large company is that the bureaucracy and resistance to change can be frustrating. There are always a few outdated policies that middle management is resistant to question because no one wants to be the first to stick his or her neck out.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Middle managers should be more willing to stick out their necks and facilitate change faster, especially when upper management has stated goals.

What I like about the company

ExxonMobil is a large company that has many opportunities to work diverse projects in diverse roles.

What I dislike about the company

Like any large corporation there is a bureaucracy that hinders quick decisions. There are also politics that must be played to advance. The employee performance ranking process is one where one mistake or one bad boss can hinder promotions for years afterwards, there is very little redemption.
