Support from management
My manager and the department’s management are not helpful. However, it is not the norm for the enterprise
There are some parts of the enterprise that encourage teamwork, innovation, and communication and there are many parts that create toxic work environments due to secretive and petty middle management practices.
Though the Clinic prides itself on transparency and communication, there is a lot of work to be done with middle management.
Woman are valued as much as men for their knowledge and talents.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There are opportunities all over the enterprise for people of all ages and they encourage older employees to grow all the way to retirement.
Overall compensation for your work
The benefits are amazing but the actual hourly compensation is lower than comparable positions in the area.
They encourage employees to find the best life possible, have resources for managing challenges, and have reasonable hours where possible.
Inclusive / Diverse
There is a great diversity program in that encompasses the entire enterprise that promotes and educates regarding diversity and inclusion.
Suggestions for improvement
- There needs to be a better way to escalate the reporting of poor management and poor HR follow through. It is discouraging to speak up (like we are told to do) only to be met with a wall of policy and red tape.
What I like about the company
The Cleveland Clinic is a world class healthcare organization that literally saves lives and it is an honor to be a part of that work. The organization has excellent goals they work hard to meet and in doing so, create an uplifting caregiver experience in most locations.
What I dislike about the company
There needs to be more training of middle management to carry out the lofty goals and standards of the organization. It is sometimes so large that pockets of negativity can bring down specific departments. They are working to improve this with offices of caregiver and patient experiences, but there is so much more work to be done to get departments that do not function well to meet the standards set by the top level of the organization.
