The development of self-contained cohesive teams is the most important function of personnel training.

The clinic is a multispecialty conglomeration of autonomous institutes and departments.

Internal Communication

Administration does an excellent job providing feedback to employees, but there is always room for improvement.

Gender Equality

We strive to maintain an inclusive organizational culture for patients, employees, business partners and the communities served, with a focus on workforce demographics, education, economic initiatives, supplier diversity and cultural competence.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Overall compensation for your work

Considering I did not complete my MBA program.

Work-Life Balance

The policy is feasible on paper, but overtime is inevitable in healthcare.

Challenging Work

I am the office manager in a very fast paced department, which is dynamic and different everyday.

Suggestions for improvement

  • As I wrote in my answer to the previous question, a Project Team is being assembled to address the problem at the lab department of too many patients, not enough room.

What I like about the company

I gave the Cleveland Clinic so many 5-Star ratings because I agreed to answer the questions honestly. The Cleveland Clinic has, by far, exceeded my employment expectations. I expected great pay and benefits, but the team oriented organizational culture really sets it apart from any other job I ever held. Obviously, in such a large organization, 80,000 system-wide, there will bad actors and unforeseen problems, and as a manager I must address these issues. Fortunately, all of those people "got my back". The team approach throughout the not-for-profit organization is extremely effective. Employees from differing departments and tiers interact with each other to solve problems and to develop plans for improvement and growth. Also, even though the mission is to treat the ill, the CC takes good care of its own by filling job vacancies from within whenever possible. Periodic raises and promotions to higher positions is policy, but don't be discouraged, we are hiring people everyday. As I write this on December 8 2019, there are 2,239 job openings. So, you have one very positive review to get you started in your research for a new job.

What I dislike about the company

My only complaint as an employee of the Cleveland Clinic involves 'lab work' at the main campus. The problem is that the 'blood draw' component of the lab cannot efficiently process the large number of patient needing lab work in a timely manner due to space constraints. Long lines form early in the day (9:00-10:00ish) slowing down the process for those patients, which is an unnecessary burden placed upon them. I realize it's a logistical problem. There simply is not enough room to expand the department at the moment. Regardless, I have shared my concerns with the 'Big Dogs' upstairs and was happy to get positive feedback from them. A Project Team is being assembled to address the issue, so maybe by this time next year it will not take two hours in line to give up your bodily fluids.
