Suggestions for improvement

  • I think a more formal manual or tutorial regarding job-specific tasks would be helpful to new employees. It might also be better to be more lenient on who can get family discounts (i.e. adding in extended family).

What I like about the company

I came in with little experience in my field, but I was able to learn from my co-workers and manager. After a couple years, I was the one people went to with their questions. You can have a lot of direct impact on projects depending on how much effort you are willing to put in. You are consulting with upper management quite frequently.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I would change the work schedule, remodel the employee appraisals and help create an environment of empowered employees

What I like about the company

I’ve learned how to communicate at many different levels, determined my management style and seen how the company operates at many different levels. I have been able to go to corporate quite a few times for work as well.

What I dislike about the company

I disapprove of their current work schedule. It hasn’t kept up with the times. 8x5 is of the past. Many companies have switched to 4 days and/or allowed the ability to work from home.

Some career paths are not clear. You could be working in a position and not know what the next level is. Everyone should know the next step and receive guidance and coaching to get there.

Promotions don’t always occur on merit. Many promotions occur after years of experience. Experience is great, but number of years does not increase the value of a person necessarily. A younger person may be a better candidate for a position, and seniority should never trump that.
