What I like

Advancement opportunities are fantastic! The company really looks to hire from within for every job opening. Employees' hard work is always recognized by management. I've seen people progress from entry-level to management within a couple of years.

What I dislike

It is a huge company, and there's lots of bureaucracy because of it. Sometimes things are handled beyond the realm of common-sense due to the large amount of policies in place that are made from headquarters, but don't translate well throughout the United States in the many different ways of doing business among it's hundreds of locations

Suggestions for improvement

The higher management at the headquarters of the company should allow local branches to make more decisions regarding what sells and what doesn't sell in their region.

What I like

This is a job for all weather types, as we have no climate control, so be prepared to sweat or freeze. The good thing is, that the company provides so much for you to stay cool and warm, such as, jackets and cooling gear. There are friendly coworkers all around. And you better say hello, or give a nod, because that's how it goes here. We strive on world class customer services! We also have Christmas parties, and you get rewards! Bonuses!

What I dislike

I would like to see more smiles. It's all about making the day fly by. You get your work done and you could still have a laugh or 2

Suggestions for improvement

Any thing to have a good flow system. Being able to get around in the area can be hard sometimes. It could be a time advantage! Which makes more money!

What I like

Opportunities to try different positions.

What I dislike

Need to base their decisions on hiring managers on their ability to manage and not other reasons.

Suggestions for improvement

A standard across the company instead of it varying by manager.

What I like

Updated on changes, fair, management listens to ideas and considers..

Doesnt consider tenure to be a positive. Doesn't give paid time for religious holidays.

Suggestions for improvement

Honestly, my department is amazing. Just religious holiday pay for those that practice.

What I like

They went the extra mile to make sure that I was compensated properly for the job I am doing once I got a promotion.

What I dislike

Lack of accountability when a team member is dragging down the rest of the team.

What I like

I really like the people I work with. They are great people (less the very few)

What I dislike

Lots of white men that look out for each other

Suggestions for improvement

Change the district manager to someone who values more than just the sales team

Decent company to work for however pay is lower than average and management gives brief details of job descriptions

EmployeeWorked at Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. in Lakewood, NJ at the time of review.

What I like

Company does have some management that is fair to employees and other employees work and try and help each other with tasks and duties to be done

What I dislike

management could provide better training and feedback opportunities and have seen a lot of favoritism and nepotism in the company based on who you know and your family is that works for the company as well as unequal pay versus other employers in the same field

Suggestions for improvement

logistics and supply are in desperate need of help and revamping as well as planning for future events such as shortages or lower production of items due to materials. In addition there are a lot of overlapping and backwards practices regarding transportation and supply/ inventory in locations

What I like

You get out of Ferguson what you put into it. Internal and External Customer Satisfaction along with Safety are top priorities on a daily basis. The training and development opportunities provided to me over the past 13 years have helped me make a career out of my employment with Ferguson. I am proud to be employed with them and am a true success story. Started as a temporary (seasonal) associate 13 yrs ago and now I am the 1st shift floor manager. The culture and dedication Ferguson has for its employees and customers supports growth and a family oriented experience.

What I dislike

There current business model of hiring outside people for key senior management positions. I have always been a firm believer of promoting from within. Those that worked from the "ground up" so to speak within Ferguson have added dedication and value that associates appreciate and respect when those people are promoted into key senior management positions.
The associate incentive program needs to be reevaluated to promote teamwork instead of individual reward

Suggestions for improvement

Incentive program
Work shifts, a 4 day 10 hour shift option

What I like

Very forgiving of mistakes, always willing to help out employees, friendly and safe environment

What I dislike

The pay could be better, there could be a better focus on training

Suggestions for improvement

Again, I would focus more on training. Also, better pay for employees that have been there longer

What I like

I moved when coming onto the company; the company paid for the entire move.

What I dislike

I think the oh and compensation should be revisited

Suggestions for improvement

I would like the company to offer more perks, such as each branch having a breakroom and fitness center.
