There is a lot of favoritism.
Support from management
A lot of the managers feel that ignoring a problem is much easier than facing issues head on. There is no employee involvement in decision making.
Depends on the day. Sometimes your coworkers are great and try to help each other. Sometimes it's very cut-throat.
There really isn't a ton of room for growth. There are limited supervisor positions, and while they do try to promote from within, they do tend to pick favorites over better choices when choosing someone for advancement.
Overall compensation for your work
Benefits are great, pay scale is average/slightly higher than average for the field. Bonus structure is ok, if you perform well and hit goals. Don't expect much for raises.
Office / Work Environment
Office is nice, very rarely has temperature regulation issues. But that's a building issues, not that of the management.
They're pretty flexible with people's scheduling conflicts. They're particularly reasonable with working parents obligations.
Some supervisors are regarded well. Others have been known to drive their employees to wanting to quit. They advertise as being a happier/better environment than their competitors, but I'm not sure that's true. There is a lot of frustration bubbling beneath the surface.
They do layoffs pretty much every November. If you're not performing well, prepare yourself accordingly.
When you do well in a month, it's great. When you do poorly, everyone knows.
Suggestions for improvement
- Promote people who actually deserve to be promoted, who their employees will respect and listen to. Actually listen to and address complaints so that people aren't afraid of retribution for voicing problems.
What I like about the company
The owner is very nice, you get set hours and paid sick/vaca time. The benefits are great. Opportunity for decent bonus checks if you're good at the job.
What I dislike about the company
Some supervisors are openly hostile towards employees they're not fond of. There is a high school drama mentality around the office- rumor mill is in full swing. Problems with supervisors are not addressed.
