Company Culture

There is nepostism. Your work is not based on your performance. It is who you know. Unfortunately, The department I worked in was run poorly causing too much problems and less productivity. Too much turn overs, no one stays or they are let go. The upper management know they have a problem retaining employees.

Support from management

Poor. No support. The person I worked has a problem with narcissism. Being the department was performing poorly, she blamed the performance on her staff. She told her supervisors the staff is incompetent. I believe your staff is as good as who runs the department.

Due to the lack of leadership, there was no team work.

Suggestions for improvement

  • First service Residential works with thousands of buildings, mine is just one of them. I believe that having more services for our building would be great, such as bingo night for residents, movie night and most important, a christmas party for all residents. In addition, the company should offer a nice christmas party for all employees to thank them for their hard work all year.

What I like about the company

The co workers i currently have are great and the atmosphere in the building is great. The company always pays on time.

What I dislike about the company

When it comes to doing over time, the company rather get floaters and the floaters dont do a good job because they dont know the job or residents as well as we do, and first residential is about quality residential service and you can offer this once you learn the job and get to know your residents, having floaters to fill up a space is not good enough.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The building I work in is dirty. Pest control should be a standard, and not only available when vermin are seen. My last manager never once wished me a happy birthday, belles at me when I once had to take two days off in a row because of the flu, and was, generally, not very nice. When I asked for a raise because my debt was piling up, he suggested I consider declaring bankruptcy. That is absurd, for a good employee to be told that. My new manager is much nicer, but I still can't pay my bills, even working full time and overtime when available.

What I like about the company

I work overnights and it is very quiet.

What I dislike about the company

I am not paid a living wage. It seems to me, that after over a year and a half, I should be making enough to pay my modest bills.
