Fisher is a grind. I love where I work now bc I see the difference. Fishers culture is toxic. Churn and burn

Former EmployeeWorked at Fisher Investments, Inc. in Camas, WA.

What I like

Good health and retirement benefits. Hard to beat

What I dislike

Management. Treat others with respect.

Suggestions for improvement

Better more frequent training for managers. They need to know how to talk to their employees bc all of them are different and learn in different ways. Don’t promote to promote to fill a job, make sure the person is qualified. Stop throwing money at the problems.

Perfect for first company out of school. Not very diverse or great for experienced applicants.

Former EmployeeWorked in Distribution/sales at Fisher Investments in Camas, WA.

What I like

Excellent approach to clients.

What I dislike

The Culture and lack of diversity.

Suggestions for improvement

Better Management training. Clear predetermined employee career tracks. Diversity and Inclusion focus from C suite that will incorporate that component into the company culture.

Company Image

Company Image is exceptional among clients and bad among many former clients. No different than anywhere else in the finance industry.

Career Development

Career Development is not good unless you are straight out of college. If you are an experienced employee you can move up but there is a turn waiting mentality that purports itself to be a meritocracy.

Support from management

Middle management is a parking spot for long term sales people. Most managers are not good managers or likely to have ever managed others outside of the company. The managers who managed before they came to Fisher are very good.

Job Security

No more or less than any other job. Company is financially stable but always concern about long term leadership changes.

The firm treats its employees fairly, but it is expected that you work very hard. Performance is actively measured.

EmployeeWorked at Fisher Investments, Inc. in San Mateo, CA at the time of review.

What I like

The firm is highly client focused and seeks to exceed client expectations at all times. The firm is always developing new processes and technology while striving to be a teaching organization. Personal accountability is expected.

What I dislike

The firm is well run. However, the hours are long and remote access is granted to certain employees. You are expected to work at least 10 hours per day and can be very tiring. Vacation accrual is capped and the pace of work can get hectic. It is very easy to get stressed and can be hard to manage in certain periods. It would be great if employees could accrue vacation at faster rate and be uncapped. Home access would be great to have to be able to perform project work.

Suggestions for improvement

See my prior response. Flexible scheduling and a more liberal vacation accrual policy would be most appreciated.

The company is well suited to competitive hardworking people but overall lacks a culture of collaboration at all levels.

What I like

I have made amazing friends at the company, the people make the place a good place to be.

What I dislike

Company is still managed by older white men who are traditional. The company does not offer maternity leave, tuition reimbursement, or flexible working hours/ working from home. The company talks about its competitive benefits but is not keeping up with the times.

Suggestions for improvement

Flexible hours, honesty and transparency from senior management, better training for middle management, equal employment opportunities across office locations, increased interaction and recognition of international employees and offices.
