Support from management
Leadership is the good old boy system no matter what they claim it still is. Reviews and raises are not impartial and people who work their butts off are not treated as well as others who don't.
The actual people on the floor work hard and help each other.
Some areas get information while others do not. Training is very outdated.
Still more men than women in leadership roles, even when a woman is more qualified.
Attitude towards older colleagues
If you cannot produce as you get older, be prepared to catch a lot of ugliness from leadership.
Again, they claim this is done; however it is not done. Favorites of leadership will get an opportunity when someone who works harder and produces more is not given the chance.
Overall compensation for your work
Reviews are subjective so if a manager doesn't like someone who produces more with less errors will not receive the same as others. Also budget only allows for so much % increase which also makes it difficult to receive fair raises.
Office / Work Environment
Very stressfull. Leadership demands more and more. Additional work is assigned but no help is given. No raises if not at review time.
There is recycling
Leadership believes your job is more important than a sick child which makes people scramble to find someone to care for a sick child. Due to Obamacare there is no more overtime as we would not be able to meet deadlines.
No. I hated going in every day. The overall atmosphere of all employees is the same. Many call FloridaBlue the stress factory.
In production areas there are many requirements that many new hires are not able to handle. The turnaround is too high.
Not enough for the number of employees
This is something they do take serious
Work can be very difficult, especially when system errors occur which have claims process incorrectly. This can take anywhere from 6 months to a year or more to make corrections to a system problem. During this time claims continue to process incorrectly and increased workload that teams already are already too thin.
Inclusive / Diverse
They claim they are but it isn't.
Suggestions for improvement
- Really sit down and listen to employees who do the work instead of making changes that don't work. Better raises.
What I like about the company
The best was paychecks. Good people under me.
What I dislike about the company
Leadership is horrible. For a health insurance company, they charge employees too much for it. Raises are not fair. In the 35 years I worked there the following was taken away due to budget cuts:
1. Free health insurance for life after retiring with your age and years equal 90.
2. An entire week of PTO.
3. Free lunches at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
4. Employee Christmas gifts became something employees cannot always use.
5. Incentives monthly, quarterly and yearly.
So much more.
