Fluor is headed in the wrong direction
I say this, because we hire our family and friends. The people we hire know nothing and have no business in leadership roles
Support from management
Management does not want to hear your issues. I am a senior manager and I see this all too often in my department. We have no support and that comes from the top down.
Again we fail, because it’s a do as I say culture
Freedom to work independently
Again we are lacking there. I say this because our in competent managers do not know what they’re doing, so they oversee everything that you’re doing and then they act like they know what they are doing....
Communication is ok, but on projects it lacks. I use Crystal River and our gas projects as a prime example
I do not see any issues there.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I was in a meeting and we have an older gentleman who attended this meeting as well. The manager continued to belittle the older employee and asked him why he wasn’t retired
You either develop yourself or you do not move on. You play the game or you do not move up the ladder.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is pretty good. I have no complaints. However you better get your money on the front end of things. What I mean by this is you negotiate your wage before you take the job, because if you’re not in the clique your races will be minimal
Office / Work Environment
In the office it’s more political than anything. Everyone kisses everyone’s ass and then talks behind them behind their back‘s
We actually do well in this category. In this category.
You work and the job comes first. Many employees would schedule time off and pay for airfare in advance then the manager would deny the time off. This happens far too much. The reason is simple. The managers are incompetent and cannot function without their staff.
We have a poor image and I blame our executive leadership on this. They are ruining our company. Not only should they be fired they should be paraded throughout the company then fired
Job security is based on who you know. We had a group of employees that were called elite employees and they were anything but delete. Some were the most ignorant I have ever seen. But they get paid when they sit at the house, so the job security is outstanding for them, but for the rest of us job security is all in who you know
Safety used to be a top priority within the organization. I do not believe workplace safety is our top priority now and I say this because we hire an experienced an uneducated people. We even hired illegals. I know this for a fact. So if you can’t speak English and you’re training is not in English you were going to have a serious problem. As I said we had Inexperienced and uneducated people on all of our gas projects. We hired the same caliber of people at our nuclear construction projects and we are no longer at those projects. When you are building a new nuclear power plant you need to hire the best. We hired bridge builders and Walmart constructors.
Inclusive / Diverse
I never hear about diversity in any meetings. Either you are in the clique or you will be looking for a job after the project is over.
Suggestions for improvement
- My suggestions for improvement are simple. Terminate employees that have no business in construction. Do not hire people or put them in positions because they are related to you. We all have ignorant relatives including myself. I have a cousin that is a dumbass, therefore I will not hire him. My brother-in-law cannot hold a job, so I will not hire him. We need to do the same as a company. We need to get rid of the nepotism and favoritism in this organization and we need to do it faster than the day before yesterday. I have had a long career with this organization and we are on the wrong path. I challenge the CEO and executive board members to make changes. Higher in the right people to do the job. I don’t care if you don’t like them, as long as they can do the job and they are qualified than that is all that matters. Do not hire your wife or your son, they have no business being there. Do not hire your mistress or the local bar tender, because they have no business in this industry. Hold yourself accountable for your actions and hold people accountable for their actions. Do not hire your sons and daughters. Hire qualified people even if you don’t like them.

What I dislike about the company
I pretty much stated what I do not like about this organization. I do not like the nepotism and favoritism. I do not like the fact that we hire people that cannot speak English and the communication barriers are there. I do not like the fact that we cannot complete a project on time and under budget. I am floor and I hate to see what is happening with my company. I have been in this company for years and I have had numerous positions within the organization. I had to fight my way to the top. But I fight my way to the top with truth and integrity and good ethics. I never lied nor did I cheat nor did I steal. HR would be proud of me.
