It was well known that the people at the top could be ruthless when they felt somebody was not of value to the organization.
Suggestions for improvement
- I haven't been in close contact with any of the company employees in a long time to know what the current climate is like. I suspect that most of the people there are not fully aware of how expendable they are view to be by the company. Most of them were probably never aware of how meager the severance pay was for those of us whose positions were eliminated and how disrespectful that was to us, not to mention the hardship it created.
What I like about the company
We had been an independent bank for over a century when the Forcht group purchased us and merged us and their other nine community banks into one bank. They did a pretty good job with the systems integration and marketing related to the merger. They assured us all that no jobs would be lost. It was rather exciting.
What I dislike about the company
That assurance that no jobs would be lost was not followed through. After about two years, many were let go. I was one. After more than twenty-five years in the organization, they gave me about eight hours notice that my services were no longer needed. They paid me for about two weeks of vacation plus two weeks of severance.
