culture is nonexistent which makes it hard to connect with and learn from others

in-house manager does their best, owner is top down autocrat giving no support
there's little vehicle for teamwork and no incentive for it
Freedom to work independently
autonomous in your own work but one mistake away from being fired.
communication is moderate at best and new employee training as bad as it gets
it's a place to learn a skill and move on, you'll never get a raise and there's no place to go with your career.
Overall compensation for your work
project pay has not changed in years, pay lag time continues to increase (months) and if you ask about your pay you get harassed by the owner.

most work from home office
most are contract employees so balance is yours but pay time lag is over 2 months from project completion which is stressful
depends on the customer. some love, some do not.

no but the actuall full time staff is pretty small.

the work is why folks stay. it's simply fantastic.
Suggestions for improvement
- Sell it to someone who will run it like a business and treat employees like they are valuable.
What I like about the company
The work is really interesting. You get exposed to a big variety of technologies and industries. You can work from home and make your own schedule. Small in house staff is nice.
What I dislike about the company
The work availability is inconsistent so you will need other employment. No room for growth. Delay in getting paid borders on the illegal but if you complain you get bullied by the owner or won't get work. Won't pay for contractors to have company email so you have to email industry people with gmail which means it gets ignored.
