The company full of backbiting. Everything will go back to the principle. Also, he will fire you out of spite.
Support from management
Leadership is unable to critically think due to the fact, they do not know what critical thinking is, which indicates poor leadership. The make demands they cannot fulfill.
This school promotes "lesson in a can" teamwork. There is no incentive for teachers to be engaging.
Freedom to work independently
There is absolutely NO autonomy. This school works like the nightmare vision of the novel of 1984.
Communication is very poor in this school. They expect teachers to be first bastion of communication, when that should be the pressure on the parents/guardians.
The adminstration gives favoritism toward two reading coaches who have turned the English department inside out. He fires who he does NOT like and attempts to overlook the errors of people he does like.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The administration does not listen to teachers who have been in the classroom longer than he. He has not be in the classroom for over 10 years.
The administration will do everything in their power to destroy the record of those they do not like. This includes not discussing their observations with employees or areas of concern. In fact, they will demand "groupthink" which creates an environment of totalitarianism.
Overall compensation for your work
Teacher work long hours and little is offered to families. The take out at least $1,000 a month, which is insane!
Office / Work Environment
The students are very disrespectful. Also, the administration is degrading. There are gang members within the walls of the school and this has not been improved.
Administration uses the Marzano framework which is based on neo-Scholasticism, Dewy, and Marxism, which is detrimental to students.
The union has allowed teachers some relaxation time.
There is NO job security. The administration promotes favoritism, which has destroyed the ability of the school to maintain employee morale. The Marzano framework is convoluted and demeaning and no evidence shows it causes better teacher performance or increased school scores.
The tools are very complex and are very convoluted. These include large amounts of books, which are so complex, while teachers need to be focused on teaching.
There is little training on how to deal with gangs. This creates a very extreme environment.
Students are not motivated and attempt to make teachers do all the work because they are lazy and want to not improve.
Inclusive / Diverse
The students are some of the most racist people have ever seen. This needs to be improved.
Suggestions for improvement
- Scrap Marzano. There is a saying: "Less is more." THe most you want out of an employee review is four pages. That is pushing it. Also, when you have people that scholars in the field you portray as important, you need to listen to them.
