The company fails at promoting enough from within, and when they do, they do not choose who has the best experience and knowledge. They look at the wrong qualities in the individuals they choose. The corporate politics within the company seem to make most of the decisions.
The associates know how to rally together when they need to, but a lot childish things occur and depending on who you are and/or who you know, some get away with more than others.
Freedom to work independently
The associates have a better understanding on a lot of day to day things that their imput is not asked on, causing their jobs to much harder, and leaves them feeling like voices are not heard, or matter.
The departments lack MUCH communication between each other, and there are a lot of departments within this company...
The amount of male leads/supervisors is way higher than female. It is said that it's a "boys club" here, and that women don't go far. Most of the female supervisors have been there since the begining with very few females being promoted or hired for those positons on a regular basis compared to men.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Full-time employees are treated fairly well compared to the temporaries, and the senior workers are well taken care of.
The company does offer classses (paid for) to give you an opportunity to advance in such areas such as Qualilty or Tech's that allows to get pay raises and top out at a higher amount. Also, some assocates get to travel to Japan and Canada for 3-6 weeks for training (paid for) when there are new model launches.
Overall compensation for your work
Pay is decent for regular workers and QA. The tech's could have a better pay scale by comparing them to the surrounding areas.
We are told that we will be told when we are to come in and when to leave...to adjust our lives for that. Some departments work 6-7 days a week 10-12 hours a day, some work 8 hours 5-6 days a week, some work 8 hours 5 days a week...depends on the line you got...
At firs, this company was a shining star in this town...But as time was went on, management has changed, economy has changed, the moral here is very low. The people are becoming over worker and feeling under appreciated. They changed our insurance package drastically from what we have been use to for years to save money, and we all know that they have been making millions in sales.
With the automotive industry there is always a risk, after the economy crached in 08, none of us ever feel "secure" anymore.
Depending on the job, yes, you can leave feeling like you have accomplished something. But there are jobs where you feel like all you do is show up and your opinion means nothing. At times the associates are literally referred to as "bodies" instead of actual people.
Inclusive / Diverse
They have a "kaisen" program which makes you feel included, and gives you money for your ideas. We also get star points, which after you get so many you recieve a monetary award.
Suggestions for improvement
