Culture has changed to where well intended employees suffer while those in the "club" prosper.
Support from management
Design teams are handed schedules without ever being included in initial scheduling. Schedules are therefore unrealistic since designers, not managers, know what time and resources it will take to deliver a solid product on time.
Only if teamwork means working with one's specific team members. Lost my job trying to befriend and learn about other teams.
Freedom to work independently
In my last group, trust to gwt the job done was not a problem.
Company did a reasonable job of sharing results.
Let's just say that men are concerned when working with women...they are not in agreement with the women, they can and will be terminated.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Not much respect unless that older person is in the "club".
Agree. Mentoring and Kaizen events help individual and team growth.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation was fair.
Office / Work Environment
Office environment was top notch. Just do not communicate with other teams unless you have specific work task to do.
Recycling bins and walking trails...good stuff. If I were still employed there I was planning to ask to adapt a highway, they need to do that.
Balance was decent, also worth noting that they have a reasonably sized workout area with equipment and showers.
I really enjoyed working there until one of the fire happy supervisors in another group threw me under the bus for a wrong assumption. My fate was decided by a biased committee who oddly did not call on any of my peers or take into account my social fluidity and involvement in many company benevolence activities. Did not even consider asking me about my social interactions. But I was not in the "club" so my fate was sealed. A Salem witch trial of sorts.
Did I mention I lost my job for cross pollenization? By the way, I am also disabled. Policies no longer make sense.
Handicapped parking and automated doors helped in this regard. An elevator is also available.
Being also a first responder there, I felt that the company did a great job to consider accident prevention and also having people trained in case of an accident.
Working to be leading edge. Just too slow and product direction is for the now with it much adaptation for future needs.
Inclusive / Diverse
From a race perspective yes....unless you are a middle age caucasian.male, then you are expensive. Only ideas that agree with the "club" seem to be supported.
Suggestions for improvement
- Don't fire highly social people for cross pollenization
What I like about the company
Office areas were well established. Free soda and coffee. Workout facility that was accessible from 6 AM to 9 PM.
What I dislike about the company
Policy by committee, abusive with the "at will" employment law in Indiana.
