Support from management
Managers and supervisors lack the ability to interact in a meaningful way with employees. There is only black and white with their thinking. There is no gray areas. In anything.
It's their way or the highway. Don't try to bring your ideas to the table because, even though they portray and constantly talk about their open door policy. It's not an open minded company. They are set in their ways. They ask for ideas and feedback but consistently and often use the tow line: Franklin is a very conservative company and we have previously looked into that/it's on the list of things to be considered.
Freedom to work independently
No. Constant checks and balances. So micromanaged that systems implemented to correct errors will be held against an associate if the system actually corrects the error.
Constant useless information at a ridiculous amount being emailed on a daily basis. There are so many communication systems in place that misinformation is rampant.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They just laid off a boat load of employees that had been with the company 20 years or more under the guise of not having enough funds to pay them. But have since hired like crazy to replace them all with younger employees. Even though they keep saying that they are not going to backfill those positions.
Office / Work Environment
Very dull and depressing. Blue and gray everywhere. There is no artwork present in any of the buildings. Unless you consider large canvases with company information and facts, also colored in blue and gray, as artwork. There is no wifi for associate use while on breaks. Good luck getting a signal in the "cafeteria".
They recycle paper and it's mostly a paper free environment.
This is an area where Franklin does well. There is plenty of time off and surprisingly, management is sensitive to their employees who have kids or other needs that are out of the ordinary.
The doors to any and all of the buildings would be a challenge to get through as there is no automatic doors. You would have to scan your badge against the pad located inside the window next to the door and hope you can roll back far enough to open the door before it locks again. Also the threshold to the doors is very rough with these grates, that I assume are there to catch dirt, would be horrible to ride over
Mundane, drudging the same thing over and over again, day in and day out.
Inclusive / Diverse
They are a very diverse company with sites all over the world.
