Commend and employee? What's that? In my department which was the pump department. My production was almost 200%. The quality of my work was over 150%. Thr records are there to prove what I'm saying, but did I ever get recognized, or any kind of bonus? (Absolutely not!) Instead, when time for lay off I was one of the first to be laided off, and I has more experience, and ability that almost anyone they kept.
Support from management
My supervisor's had no idea what the job entails, or how to do the job. Gardner Denver do not hire people with experiences, or job related experience. My supervisor came from a car company where his supervisory exprerience was putting stickers on cars, and was hired at Gardner Denver as a production supervisor. We delt with mechanical prints, and drawing, and he is still way out of his league. Gardner Denver pay him for us to teach him what we know, so if we run into a problem he don't have a clue how to fit the problem. He wait until we solve the issue, and then he goes up front and take credit for our intelligence.
Freedom to work independently
As for me, my work load was fair, but at Gardner Denver the employee's have no say so about anything. They are to do what they are told, and that's it.
Yes we heard how much money we made the company every meeting.
I think for the most part women are treated fairly at Gardner Denver.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I've already answered this one. After you have been at Gardner Denver 5yrs you get a watch, and yes office personnel gets hired all the time, as a matter of fact. With in the 2nd year I was with Gardner Denver everybody in the office had been changed out. In my third year the new employee's had been changed out.
Some maybe. I got to go to one class in the almost five years I was there.
Overall compensation for your work
I'm not going to lie I was paid very well, and was paided on time every time. No complaints in that area.
Office / Work Environment
The system we have was ols as water, and slow as a snail.
Absolutely not. My supervisor instructed the painter to pain outside, and the paint went all over people cars in the parking lot, across the street, and into the atmosphere. Some of the guys had new vehicles, and after a year or so Gardner Denver has to pay the to have their vehicles repainted.
No vacation days cannot be take at anytime. You have to schedule at the beggining of the year your vacation. If something comes up, and you have no sick time then you can take your vacation time.
Most don't hate the job, but hate the people the company put in place. The people that the company put in place try to lead by intimidation. Telling the employee's I'll fire you in a heart beat.
Smile, yes! Because of bad management, and inferior parts the company fell from a top company to off the chart.
Every employee has to buy his own tools, but the company will let you work in small assamble if you get hurt.
No, and absolutely not. I showed the company test center pictures where the employee's are standing in water with 260votes of electricity is laying on the floor waiting to get a cut in the cable, and kill both employee's.
Always, I wanted to be the best at what I did bar none. I accomplished that task. I set the bar so high that it will be many years before Gardner Denver get someone to reach my level of quality, and perfection.
Inclusive / Diverse
I'm not sure.
Suggestions for improvement
- Get qualified people in the front office. And have someone from the company to come down and show some concern for their company. Maybe have a lunchen with the guys to show they care about where their money comes from, and who makes it for them. Monitor the people the put in control of there company, because if the company don't care the people they bring off the street want care either.
What I like about the company
I loved the group og guys I worked with. I love doing my job because I was very good at it. I got up every morning and got to work before anyone else, and would sat in my vehicle and wait until those doors was open. I really did like working at Gardner Denver.
What I dislike about the company
I liked the job. Helping customers with their equipment, being able to problem solve, and feeling that pride of being a Gardner Denver Tech.
