Company Culture

The IT Group is small it is like a one or two person team. Management/Supervision is often poor.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Improve employee relations, attend sensitivity training, when hiring make sure you choose employees who can perform the tasks, so you are not setting them up for failure. You will need to plan to train employees better because your current methods are poor.

It is conveniently located near freeway

Company Culture

Company Culture in the Corp. Office is often unfair. They are a family business and understand that if you are not family you will not be treated the same.

Support from management

Management was often unavailable to answer questions and adequately train.

Teamwork

It is a small office with no real IT Dept. they don't really have a Team.

Freedom to work independently

The one IT person in this business should be experienced because you will be the only person doing most of the work. You will have a lot of responsibility.

Internal Communication

Communication was often unavailable between the IT Person and Manager as the Mgr. is often unavailable.

Gender Equality

This is a male dominated business, the women in the Corp. HQ had a lot of responsibility and worked hard. I don't know if they were treated any differently than their male counterparts.

Attitude towards older colleagues

I feel that they treated the older colleagues fairly.

Career Development

I did not have enough training to perform the job. The Manager was often out of the office and unavailable.

Overall compensation for your work

They have decent benefits and offer bonuses.

Office / Work Environment

Office was ok, no ventilation, plenty of light, little noise. Furniture is old. Computers are mostly new Dell machines.

Environmental Friendliness

I suppose they are aware as they can be. I did not notice any recycling at the Corp. HQ.

Work-Life Balance

You can ask for time off, but they will use it against you. They seem kind at the moment, but don't take any time off unless you have to.

Company Image

I got the overall feeling that most people were satisfied with their jobs. The office is really small and they all seem satisfied.

Job Security

My job was not stable, I felt that they used me to perform the tasks that were needed and then released me from employment. They were insulting and rude towards me on my last day.

Handicapped Accessibility

It's a single story building it meets the necessary codes.

Workplace Safety

They must have some Safety practices in the Branches in place, but the Corp. office is small and didn't seem to need any real training.

Challenging Work

I was always proud of my accomplishments because I worked hard and was learning many new things each day most of it self taught as my Manager spent little time training me.

  • Treat your employees with dignity even when severing your relationship.

What I like about the company

They are a family run business, it was close to my home, I thought they were going to treat me well.

What I dislike about the company

Lack of training, lack of communication between Management and myself, they need to have training in Human Resources and to learn how to manage their staff in all situations.

  • When hiring a person for a position you will need to plan to spend adequate time training them into the position or spend more money and hire someone with the experience you are looking for.

What I like about the company

In the Branches the Management and Staff seem to have a great working relationship and team environment. At first it felt like a great environment.

What I dislike about the company

When releasing a person from employment it is best to provide them with valid reasons that their performance is unsatisfactory. Shortly after my probationary period was over the Manager and one of the Company Owners came into the office with my final check in hand and told me "it was just not working out" smugly while grinning. When asked why I was being released I was not provided with any reason. I had done every task that I had been asked to perform without any disciplinary action. Understanding that most jobs do not need a reason to sever relationships with staff, I still found it insulting and cold.
