You can't trust anyone in this company, working with all woman ( everyone talks about each other behind their backs.) very untrustworthy place to work.
Support from management
When you work for a place and the supervisor/manager is the Veterinaraians mom and a lot of family members work together favoritism starts to happen.
Employees don't work as a team, the hard working employees get stuck cleaning everything in a closing shift and everyone else runs and hides. When addressed to management nothing was ever said to them because they were " favorites"
Freedom to work independently
A lot of the workload is put on one person. Or the higher ups didn't like to train people.
As I said before the higher ups don't like to inform people about anything or train them and can be very nasty.
I see more woman who are veterinary techs than men
Attitude towards older colleagues
Like I said before the longer they have been there, they don't like to train the newer people and their attitude is very rude. Especially the ones related to the owners.
No where to go.
Overall compensation for your work
Paid very little for this area, I left to get paid $6.00 more an hour. Benefits were not offered. There was one time we weren't paid on time and all my bills were late.. Don't recommend this employer.
Office / Work Environment
The place looks old fashioned and needs updated. Having to restrain a large dog on the floor is not appropriate and we technicians could get bitten in the face.
They don't care about family time or normal working hours. Before I got hired there I specifically asked not to work every weekend, so I could spend time with my family. They started working me every weekend and every closing shift. Most likely because I was the only one that would clean.
No, I never heard anyone talk fondly of the company. They had very high prices for the area and especially for how low that the employees were paid.
Being a veterinary technician is very challenging. Especially at this place. Clean clean clean that's all you do here.. I feel like that was more of my job than taking care of the animals.
Suggestions for improvement
- When promises are made to employees they should be kept, such as the hours they are to work, and the 80% of your job will be cleaning.. If employees do not follow that warn them that they will be fired. Otherwise you will lose good employees. Also as I said before there is no reason for an office manager to put an employee down ever. That can also make you lose an excellent employee especially when she has plans of a bright future ahead of her.
What I like about the company
It was local, I had a chance to work in the surgery department.
What I dislike about the company
The hours I was required to work, even though I requested not to work every weekend before I started working there so that I could spend time with my family. The fact that I was the only one stuck cleaning every closing shift because everyone else went and hid and giggled in the lunch room. The girls talked about each other behind their backs ( severe trust issues) never had that anywhere. The office manager put me down all the time which was completely inappropriate, especially when she was in her office most of the time.
