Most of the management are younger adults and have worked here for years and know how to treat everyone fairly with respect.
Support from management
Some management really take the time to get to know everyone and try strive to work well together and present guests and staff with a great place to be.
Teamwork is important and everyone usually gets along well and works well together.
Freedom to work independently
I was in charge of maintaining daily functions in my area and I would try to distribute work load evenly so everyone was being treated fair, I feel many of the other managers felt the same way and really tried to strive to a balance.
In management there were daily meetings that we would then share with our employees and fellow management and there was never a real problem with communication.
This employer is very diverse in gender and race and everyone has the same opportunities for promotion, as long as they work hard and are driven to help others. Many of the management positions were filled with women.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Not many people over 30 work at the park, but there are a few. The company has no problem hiring people that are a little older, but since it is a summer job, not many adults apply.
Overall compensation for your work
I believe team members received minimum wage and team leads received about 20-30 cents higher. Above that is a 15 cent raise.
Office / Work Environment
Some of the machines are out of date, but this park is only open 3 months out of the year. My last year they really worked on updating registers and technology to keep up with how busy it gets.
Some times the hours can get really extensive, but we always became close and would hang out a lot when we weren't working.
We may get frustrated and annoyed working here, but it is a really friendly environment and everyone really does like it to an extent.
If you have never been in trouble at the job and you reapply the fallowing year, you will get your job back.
There aren't many disabled employees, but I believe that management tries to make everything accessible and gives everyone the same ability to work.
In food service, the company provides a ton of personal protection equipment to keep employees from getting harmed while making food. There is a lot of training involved to make sure everyone knows how to use PPE, fire extinguishers, and any other equipment.
The work isn't very hard, it can be demanding, but the employees are mainly 16 or 17-year-olds who have never really worked before.
Inclusive / Diverse
They will always take into consideration anyone who has any ideas for how to run the company better and save money. They had taken several of my ideas into consideration and started doing a lot of the ideas I put out there.
Suggestions for improvement
- Just keep treating employees fairly and understand that many of them are young and don't really understand what employers want out of them.
What I like about the company
This is the perfect job for teens who have little to no job experience, they work hard to train everyone and keep everyone happy. Everyone gets close by the end of the summer and it is hard to say good-bye to new friends that you spend almost everyday with. Management really looks out for employees and tries to make sure we are happy.
What I dislike about the company
Some of the equipment is old and can be very dangerous if not properly taken care of. There are some managers that micromanage and get upset over little things.
