Weak Management, Its still the 60's there, very Good 'Ol Boys Club
They are stuck in the past. They say they want to move forward, but the upper management has been there 20+ years and has no other experience so change is not really wanted. If there was a management hall-over there is possibility for change and movement into the future.
Support from management
Leaders are not promoted on merit but by who they know. There is minimal training in how to help build a supportive team. Everything they do wrong blows back on the lower employees.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Employees never leave so the culture is mostly 45+
Because there is little management turnover it is very hard to get ahead. People who seem to get ahead, it feels that it is more on who they know and not merit. Very frustrating if you are a hard worker
Overall compensation for your work
Meager pay for lower management and below. Great benefits.
There hours are very 8-5 so a work life balance is possible.
Inclusive / Diverse
Its the most multi-cultural place I've worked
Suggestions for improvement
- Listen to your employees. Give them a cost of living raise! They work hard and deserve it. Find outside management who are trained in the art of managing versus promoting your BFF.
What I like about the company
The campus is a beautiful place to work. Ocean view, flower fields. I was there for 10 years so its very secure. Good benefits
What I dislike about the company
Low pay for cost of living. Weak management. Having to be the right person's friend to get ahead in your career. No continuous training to help any employee get ahead.
