- General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems15.Dec 2015
Total chaos these days.
Support from management
Depending upon the project, good to no support
Depends on the program. Some are really good, others are really bad.
Freedom to work independently
Almost too much. With no management direction, it is easy to go off and do things that will not help your career.
Merely the appearance of communication. You are on your own.
Probably not bad for this industry.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Most are "older"
Irregular. If you are favored, it is not bad. Lots of good on-line courses.
Overall compensation for your work
Pretty standard for the industry,
Office / Work Environment
There are frequent non-work activities.
Big defense contractor with fossilized management is true.
Hire and fire by contract and if they like you. Performance is secondary at best
Additionally, management skates very close to the line on correct behavior on federal contracts. Need to watch your personal assignments closely to avoid potential problems that might get you in trouble
OK, but not great. Issues are not understood.
Very interesting projects with a lot of diversity.
Inclusive / Diverse
They are challenged here in many ways, but better than many
Suggestions for improvement
- Follow federal rules to stay out of problems
What I like about the company
Some really good work and some really good colleagues.
What I dislike about the company
They live off of past glories, but could no longer perform on things like that. Technically have degraded due to loss of staff and no management understanding.
