Suggestions for improvement

  • Pay attention, and LISTEN. You state that your employees are your biggest asset, but you don't walk the walk. It's insane how all decisions are made - and this is consistent throughout the entire company - without any input at all from the folks who actual do the day to day work. Think about it, those are the real experts. Way too much trust in assumed because someone has a management title. That's another huge issue - NO TRAINING FOR MANAGERS. People are promoted and it's expected that they'll magically obtain managerial skills. No other companies do this, and I believe it has contributed significantly to the decline of the company as a whole. Given how the company's reputation has suffered greatly in recent years, It would be wise to return to focusing on quality, not quantity. Customers (and employees) want the best, not the biggest.

What I like about the company

The employee events are a very nice gesture, and very well put together. The parking is now paid for by the company. There are various discounts with certain hotels, phone companies, etc for being an employee.
Dental coverage is pretty darn good, Vision is excellent.
Aflac is fantastic!

What I dislike about the company

Salary - at least several departments are paid well below market rate. Cannot attract/retain quality nurses and staff in centers due to sub-par compensation.
Review process - hardly exists, and there is no incentive for employees to set/achieve goals, or improve in any way.
Pay increases - some years do not exist at all, sometimes 1% across the board (supposedly). Again, what incentive does this give staff when their increase is not performance based?
No 401(k) match.
Medical Benefits - atrocious! Not affordable, cover very little, high co-pays. It's essentially very expensive "in case of very serious emergency" coverage (i.e. head to toe body cast).
Favoritism - I cannot stress this enough. Throughout corporate and regional offices, it is very much about who you know, who likes you, and who does NOT. This will determine almost everything, your value to the company as an employee is rarely recognized.
It was once a terrific company and employer. They got too big too quickly and the company lost it's soul. It's no longer employee/family oriented, it seems to be all about recouping money by any means necessary, although a lot of the obvious large expenses are never scrutinized. Training is essentially non-existent. Company refuses to pay for any outside training as well.
