Suggestions for improvement
- Clean and update the office areas. I think there is a lot of micromanaging in sales, accounting. There is not a lot of advancement in sales and I think that is discouraging. I also think that we are not progressive enough with remote working.
What I like about the company
This has been a stable business for many years, privately held until about 5 years ago when acquired by EIS, a division of GPC. Slowly, we have become more of a corporate culture, not necessarily for the better. Overall, the business is friendly, not too stressful, and there is a lot to learn about the product we sell. The people are generally friendly and a 40 hour week is standard. Location is good. I have been there many years, as have a lot of other people. I feel I have been treated well and compensated fairly.
What I dislike about the company
Hate, hate, hate the physical building. GPC is incredibly cheap when it comes to their businesses, just take a look at a NAPA store. Wallpaper is peeling, no new paint since 2002 in the office area. The tiles are falling off in the original 1974 bathrooms. The wall partitions are old and the heat and air conditioning is not consistent. This makes me question how well they will treat us, the employees, in the future. Corporate is only looking for the most profit and I feel we are now at risk of being downsized, consolidated.
