Company Culture

The school has been through a lot of changes and upper management and a lot of bad choices, but we seem to be on the right track now.

Teamwork

It depends on the team. Overall, we do.

Internal Communication

Communication is great.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Age is not much of a factor in Education.

Office / Work Environment

We are in a good place that is well kept.

Environmental Friendliness

We are a recycle location.

Work-Life Balance

We are all overworked. We come in at 8am and leave 11 to 12 hours later. No time for cooking and eating proper meals. We seldom see the day light.

Company Image

Yes.

Job Security

Do the right thing and you will stay emmployed

Handicapped Accessibility

We are in tuned to what we need to do and are making changes to be compliant with state and federal laws.

Workplace Safety

We have on site police that monitors things closely since I experienced a hut and run to my car in the parking lot. There is training for first response, active shooters and handling medical emergencies.

Challenging Work

Working with the public is always challenging. They keep is on our toes.

Inclusive / Diverse

We do okay with diversity.

Suggestions for improvement

  • We love the students buy if we keep working long hours we won't be healthy enough to give it our best.

What I like about the company

I love helping students reach their goals.

What I dislike about the company

The hours are not healthy. We work 10 hours, we have to be there longer for a lunch break (11 hours) and we still have to work a lot if weekends and later evenings during registration and open house as late as 8:30 pm. We don't get overtime pay and hardly get to to take off for the extra hours we workforce comp time.

Company Culture

This is the worst aspect. The culture is all about furthering the brand of the College President. The attitude of the rank and file suffers as a result. Attitude reflects leadership.

Support from management

There is some support and development going on, but just enough that the College can say it is actually doing something; not enough to effectuate positive change.

Teamwork

There is little to no teamwork. Departments regularly fail to communicate.

Freedom to work independently

There is too much autonomy to the point that there is little to no accountability.

Internal Communication

One of the biggest problems in the College, but not the worst.

Gender Equality

No complaints here.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Personally have not seen any issues relating to age discrimination.

Career Development

Barely satisfactory.

Overall compensation for your work

The College got it's first raise in 11 years this year. Pathetic.

Office / Work Environment

Working conditions are tolerable. However, if you work directly with the President, be prepared to take some verbal abuse.

Environmental Friendliness

One of the few things the College is actually good at, at least in principle. But I doubt anyone in leadership is aware or even cares that the waste in the recycle program is not actually recycled, but is thrown away with the rest of the garbage that goes to the landfill.

Work-Life Balance

There are no task maters here. Everyone can't wait to leave when the whistle blows.

Company Image

What was once a premier institution in the TCSG has become a pariah. Enrollment has suffered accordingly.

Job Security

As long as you stay out of the President's radar, you're fine. Incompetency is tolerated to a large extent.

Handicapped Accessibility

The College is extremely accessible.

Workplace Safety

It is a very safe College, though the main campus is in a dicey area; but I have never felt unsafe there.

Challenging Work

Little to none.

Inclusive / Diverse

This is a mixed bag. The level of diversity depends upon the place from which you view it.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The College needs a new President that isn't driven by ego. Dump top heavy leadership. Invest in quality faculty, not fly-by-night adjuncts.

What I like about the company

It is a four day work week, Monday through Thursday. Awesome. The employees are nice.

What I dislike about the company

The leadership is completely out of touch. All show & no substance. Lip service paid to students, but no real benefit to help them achieve their goals. Millions are spent to build a building, obtain a grant to run it, then it is just dumped, the teacher fired, and closed down when the grant runs out. Facilities are poorly maintained and used inefficiently. Recruiting is either non-existent or ineffectual. Enrollment has plummeted. Tremendous amount of cronyism in leadership. High salaried, high level administrative positions created and funded at the expense of students and faculty.

What I like about the company

The college has gone through a leadership change which has resulted in a complete shift in culture.

What I dislike about the company

The new leadership dose not support the middle level and junior level employees.
