Job is totally unstable. Dozens have been fired all in one day with no warning. Position elimination is all financial oriented.
No opinions are supported. CEO rules everything-everyone is afraid of him. Company does not support diversity or change, or raises, etc.
Suggestions for improvement
- Everything must be changed starting with the CEO. He has his fingers in every part of the company and won't let people do their jobs. Has been known to fire people at meetings just because they disagreed with him about a guitar color. I worked nights. We were about 40% understaffed constantly. Even though I knew of hundreds of applicants waiting to work for Gibson. The delay is because the CEO demands that he approves EVERY applicant, which he takes forever to get to. He has about 3000 emails at all times. So he doesn't get around to the applicants. Meanwhile we are understaffed, working a lot of overtime for months at a time. When all he has to do is hire more people. But all the management is in a good ole' boy network. They avoid him, because everyone is afraid of being fired just by contacting him- I am dead serious. The floor managers at the plant don't care, they get payed salary, so the problems are a revolving cycle of people quitting and departments constantly being understaffed. I had a friend who worked for 21 years in Final Assembly quit because it is the worse it has ever been. You would think it would be a great place to work (but that is just smoke and mirrors) because the product is a cool product to make, but nothing is further from the truth. To improve the company, the CEO would have to leave first. Then get a professional management staff with experience from top to bottom. Not a bunch of good ole' boys who do just enough to not get fired and keep their jobs.
