The company does commend the employees, but not often. The rewards/points program is suppose to want you to work harder and better, but all it does is make you not want to mess up. Or makes you wonder how many deductions can I get
Support from management
The only leadership is from other workers, who are peers. Your boss doesn't teach or show you how to do you job, and then when you do something wrong or don't know. He acts like your the bad guy.
The teamwork is great. You have to learn from others to beable to do the job, and learn the job
The company can communicate well. When you ask questions you don't know. Sometimes supervisors acted like you are stupid because you don't know. Other times they will answer any question anytime. Most of the time it is better to ask other employees
Overall compensation for your work
They have a lot of different things to offer. But most of it is to blind you to the low pay you get.
Office / Work Environment
Working conditions are good. A lot of hospitals and hotels while doing stone work.
I don't think families are taken into consideration. Working hours can fall in to normal night shift work. Days off can be requested but a lot of times they are denied. No paid vacation days.
I think the company does well with customers. But the employees it could be better.
The work is cool! I felt very proud of the work that I did! Sometimes I went above and beyond to make it look better. But if you told the bosses you did extra, you could get yell at.
Suggestions for improvement
- Raises. Proper overtime, proper pay from clock in to clock out. A thank you or nice job every now and then. Instead of a sarcastic hello and hand shake every now and then. Actually listen to suggestions from employees.
What I like about the company
They had work all year long. I was proud of my work. Company vehicles.
What I dislike about the company
Raises were often denied. Overtime was less then 1.5. Driving time while in the work truck was less then minimum wage. The point/reward system was more of a deduction/ punishment system. He didn't talk to you about anything that was wrong just deducted from points.
