Employees on the floor are looked at as incompetent mostly. Ran by higher ups in Canada - they don't seem to understand how the US markets work at all. They tend to think because they are huge in Canada, they are a power player in the US - when they don't crack the top 10, even in a niche market. If something goes wrong, expect someone to get fired for it. Training is unheard of in this company's US locations. On the positive side - they are very generous with pay when starting off on the executive level (front office), but no benefits.
Suggestions for improvement
- #1- TRAIN your employees at all levels. Recycling is not a huge industry with massive #s of knowledgeable employees to pick from. Find potential and TEACH ! #2 - NEVER set a goal without also SETTING an EXACT plan to get to it. It's great to say "we are going to raise sells 20%", but shows poor management when that's the end of the discussion. How about setting 3 specific target customers for a 2 month time frame? What about looking at the market and getting intel on who needs you in the US? Maybe even finding out what you are good at, not just assuming you are big and they will listen?
