Suggestions for improvement
- Moew open-communication; more substance behind "why" we are doing something as opposed to "we're doing this" without any rhyme or reason to the changes. Maybe just some better benefits, or even PTO, for the staff; they make it feel like we should just be happy that we have a job regardless of what they do/do not pay their staff. Putting money back into the club to continue to not only compete with facilities in the area but to keep the members we still have.
What I like about the company
Being in the health and fitness industry and working for a brand like "Gold's Gym" carries it's own weight and positive connotations in the world. Being a General Maanger of a facility such as this one is a faantastic addition to my resume as well. I have been able to interview, hire and train an incredible staff and a special group of people that work well together. The "relaxed" feel of the environment has allowed us to be open with one another withint the facility to allow for a culture of idea and knowledge-sharing.
What I dislike about the company
Our ownership group makes it near impossible to achieve our monthly goals. There is no support or communication from above. They do not take pride in the facility nor are they interested in improving things that are broken, need to be replaced, etc. There are no benefits, no paid holidays, nothing - they do not value a life-work balance which makes it impossible to retain good employees. Turnover is high and it makes wanting to "get things done' difficult because we are constantly hiring and training new persons.
