Employees are not asked their opinions on job performance standards, or other job related issues.
The people on the floor, even in a production based environment, are almost always willing to help, whether it's tips to improve your ability, or helping you fix what might not be correct due to inexperience.
Freedom to work independently
You're told the assignments are random, but there are some days you see the same people get easy orders repeatedly, while you're stuck doing the largest orders all day. No real method is in place to correct this.
There are more women assigned clerical work then there are women working in the warehouse. Warehouse workers get paired more then the clerical positions, but women seem to be funneled into the clerical roles.
Office / Work Environment
The equipment used has been out of date for at least a decade, and is slowing down the work process.
Very difficult to move from part time to full time unless you change departments AND your shift, something that is not always communicated. You are there until the work is done, it does not matter if your significant other will be late for their job because you were forced to stay an extra hour.
Suggestions for improvement
- This is a very demanding physical job, it'd help the workers out to get extra time off, whether it is sick days or vacation, just to help the body rest, and still perform at the high level they require.
What I like about the company
The pay, and the ability to get overtime.
What I dislike about the company
The conditions, the equipment, the standards in place.
