Big Corporation in Disguise
They try to make this place sound like a small, local company that genuinely cares for its employees, but that's not the case. Your advancement is popularity based, not merit based. They expect you to work outside your job description without compensation. Positions with a sales goal are not held accountable for errors they make in normal banking transactions. Sales are all that matter: it's a smaller Wells Fargo and just as uninterested in the individuals that work there.
Support from management
Managers do not make any attempts to help their employees. In most cases, their entire focus is on getting out of working by simply pushing their duties off into their employees.
The company would rather keep a bad employee for years instead of let them go, especially if they have decent sales. If you can sell loans, it doesn't matter if everything else is beyond you, you'll never be fired.
Freedom to work independently
No one really pays attention to what you do, you're just ignored until you mess something up.
There are no clear definitions of your job expectations. Departments do not communicate with each other and there is no set standard that is enforced.
Office / Work Environment
The offices and cubicles are nicely sized, heating and air are kept in decent working order. Buildings are kept clean and in good repair. Software is not always as updated as it should be.
Community service is required for all job positions, but they have very strict requirements: unless the activity is a chance to advertise, it doesn't count. Food banks, blood donations, small community fundraisers, none of these count.
For the back office staff, overtime is expected. Non-sales departments are perpetually understaffed and since departments can push tasks they don't want off onto other departments, there is generally a lot more work than what should be handled by a particular position.
Almost all of the work is challenging due to inadequate training for all positions.
What I like about the company
Overtime was always available when you needed extra money and the sick and vacation time accrued quickly.
What I dislike about the company
The lack of responsibility and fairness in company practices.
